The Dren Pistol currently has the stats of a standard pistol. However the CPU/PG requirements are that of a militia pistol which is near twice the basic pistol.
As a result the pistol's stats don't match any current pistol.
Is this correct or should it have basic pistol CPU/PG requirements?
Note: the difference between militia and basic pistol is the militia has a different reload speed. |

I thought about the too good thing the Toxin SMG and AR existing kinda rules that out in my mind. Along with other factors of if it was really gonna be dangerous it was more likely going to be skilled into anyway (and a better one used) and anyone who could make headshots enough that it was OP probably is using something much higher tier.
The swarm launcher I guess I could see more but those things are just not used enough for me to think attracting more attention to them would be good. |

c on last part.
And although what your saying is possible I think the fact that we won't get the collector's edition content for some time now.
Also I think if it was included in the 20$ merc pack it might be more valid but I paid 100$ for that elite pack. |

My pistol is lonely and cold, needing a hand to grip it. But I don't have the megarams to hold it apparently! Help! |

Bumping for answers, just put a few skill points in pistol to run a basic one. Love that thing, would love to use the dren but it costs 9 more CPU and 3 more PG than a std Scrambler Pistol |

I figure it's the same green/brown as all the other dren equipment but I haven't taken too much of a look, I just like not having to buy pistols (though I just bought 200) |

Do you know what I love? Pistols.
I don't as much care for high CPU/PG costs |

Are you saying thats how you think it should be or you know for a fact they meant it like that. I still haven't heard someone tell me either way. |

Those templar pistol look nice. Wish I could fight templar pistols with my dren pistol since I didn't get picked. Too bad I can't afford the CPU/PG on any of my suits despite having high fitting skills. Every point counts and I'm using it all, if the Dren can't play along I can't play with it.
Hope it straightens up and flies right |

Looks like the Templar pistol has the same fittings. Even on my cheaper suits I am cutting it close on CPU/PG, I just can't use these things. Are they supposed to be these fittings?
I am just confused about the reasoning. They are only marginally better than the militia, they are one of (if not) the cheapest weapon in the game. They require extremely minimal SP to acquire tier 1 of (probably lowest in game?). They are a decent weapon, well balanced with the SMG yet there is a well fitted SMG while a pistol takes 5pg. Not to mention 9 extra CPU. |

I don't mind them being tier 1, and I don't know if the pistol has the reload boost that a tier 1 pistol has. I just want tier 1. I want a standard scrambler pistol with CPU11/PG2.
I got the Collector's Edition, I believe I will be happy with the decision as I enjoy the SR, perhaps more BPOs will release in the future when a player market is out and they can be higher level. Frankly the items shouldn't be adv or higher anyway, I live in adv and although I'd think I'd enjoy it, there isn't much point in a life if there is no loss.
Also considering the small amount of templars, god help us if they were strong.
That all being said. Hey CCP, is the CPU/PG fitting on Dren and Templar pistols correct? Y/N? |

Still trying to figure out why this would be done this way if the information is correct.
I mean it all has to center around a couple things. 1. Viability against other sidearms and 2. fitting.
Now the Flaylock is an interesting option in that it requires no PG. However I think it requires more points for full effectiveness. I've certainly felt the pain in my heavy suit of a proper flaylock... which just convinced me why I need to go for shields next.
Anywho, then there is the SMG. People often use the toxin because free toxin, but it is a very reliable weapon. I think I'd see more SMGs if scouts were less paper thin because in last build a good SMG could cause quite a stir. That being said without the extra range opinion might change, but I very rarely see pistol compared to SMG.
So from the sounds of it there are solid alternatives, in fact I wouldn't be surprised if people were more willing to call Pistol/SMG balanced compared to the light weight weapons. Which is great if you ask me.
Then there is the fitting. Which CAN adjust things. I mean in the end it is secondary and if a player can keep a sidearm and bump up from enhanced to complex damage mods the choice is clear. All being said in the hands of an expert the pistol can be exceedingly deadly. A headshot does massive damage, and those who played in last build know what the high tier versions can do with someone who knows how to use them. The bonus for Scrambler Pistol Operation is also a huge boon as you level it up, meaning a level 1 pistol can have 11 rounds in the mag as opposed to 6, and each level of proficiency actually means a 3% bonus to body shots, and a bonus of 9-13.5% damage to a head shot. Proficiency 3 would mean a 27-40% damage increase on head shots compared to a normal head shot.
However the above all being said, when the pistol gets stronger you will know the player is more experienced. The most OP it can get is in the hands of better players, ones who would laugh at the ~1k cost per suit. I can fund 200 pistols easily from a normal ambush game.
If anything the biggest bonus is lack of need to put in skill points, as the SP cost is technically greater than the ISK cost, but then the SP cost is extremely minimal, and that 1 level in pistol operation is so cheap that it is worth getting just for the extra round in the mag.
Not only that but the only "potentially" tier 1 BPOs you can get are from items costing either 100$ or 150$. So while one hopes for the sake of CCP that the pistols will be plentiful, the number is not nearly as high as it might otherwise be. Nor would I believe in any way that it would be an added justification for such a purchase in order to "compete" because the same level of competition is easily obtained through ISK.
As such I remain confused. |

I submitted a support ticket, they said the current values are intended. Thus this is no longer a technical support matter. I have opened up threads in requests/feedback and the council chamber |
